What's Going On
We witnessed an amazing outpouring of strength, unity and remembrance at the Interfaith Vigil for the victims of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting. An overflow group of participants crowded the Snohomish County Administrative Building meeting room, as well as the outdoor candlelight vigil. Members of the Interfaith community gave heartfelt and inspiring sermons that were so appreciated by all who attended.
Herald reporter, Julie Muhlstein, interviewed Rabbi Kort during a planning meeting for an Interfaith Vigil in response to the horrific attack at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life synagogue:
“Rabbi Rachel Kort, who arrived at Everett’s Temple Beth Or this summer, wishes her introduction to the wider community could have been different.”
“Rather than a joyful occasion, she’ll speak at a Thursday night vigil in response to the shooting rampage that killed 11 Jewish people at a Pittsburgh synagogue. The downtown Everett vigil is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday in the Robert J. Drewel Administration Building on the Snohomish County campus.”
