From the kitchen of Pam Dotson: I wanted to contribute something that is completely traditional, yet not exactly what everyone expects. The brisket (usually served with with kasha and varnishkas) comes from the side of my family with Romanian roots, I have never seen another dish (of any kind, and from any cuisine) with this combination of seasonings (bay and clove). It has always sounded a bit odd to me, but it tastes delicious.
